Congratulations to our FMH Bantam Rep Team

Our Flesherton  Bantams travelled to Forest this past weekend and won all 5 games on the way to winning the Championship game in a nail bitter 4-3 over Lambton Shores.

Game 1 was with Lambton Shores and was 0-0 after regulation and a 10 minute Overtime, the Hawks won in a shootout

Game 2 was with Geneva, Illinois and the boys came through with a 5-0 win.

Game 3 was Saturday against East Lambton and the boys walked away with a 7-4 win.

1st place in our division put us against Blyth Brussels at Sunday at 8:00am, who finished 2nd in the other division.  The other semi matched up Lambton Shores and Mariposa

The Hawks scored 3 in the first, but Blyth Brussels fought back with 3 of their own to tie game at 3 by end of second period, and no scoring in the 3rd sent the Hawks to O/T once again.  The boys won it 3:17 into O/T to punch their ticket to the finals.

The defending champions from last year, Mariposa, lost to East Lambton 3-0 in the other semi, setting up a rematch of the Friday game which went to a shootout.

The first period was scoreless and Lambton Shores grabbed the lead mid-way through the 2nd.  With the Hawks scored shorthanded goal with 0:18 seconds left in the 2nd period to tie things up 1-1 heading into the 3rd. It stayed that way till the last 6 minutes of the game, when the teams took the fans on a roller coaster, with 5 goals being scored.  The Hawks took a 2-1 lead with 5:46 left, but Lambton Shores scored shorthanded at 4:35, after a strange bounce off the end boards caught all off guard.  Lambton Shores then took the lead 3-2 with 1:50 left in the game.  The Hawks regrouped quickly, and with a never die, find a way to get it done effort, tucked one in at 1:21 to tie the game 3-3.  Things looked to be heading to overtime again, until the puck came back to Isaac Lehman at the blue line and he blasted a slap shot home with .39  left for a 4-3 lead.  The Hawks kept Lambton Shores out of their end for the last .39 seconds and took home the win.  Isaac Lehman with 2, Casey Mann, & Chase Montgomery scored in final

Congratulations also goes to Casey Mann & Kody Winget who were named to the Tournament All Star team.

We are incredibly proud of the effort and commitment the boys put into this win.

We would like to thank all the fans for the support shown over the weekend, at the arena and from back home, we appreciate it!

This was Flesherton’s first International Silver Stick Championship in 25 years since our Midgets won in 91-92.  With the win Flesherton Bantams team name will be displayed on a plaque in the Hockey Hall of Fame from April 2017 – April 2018.
