The Bantams capped off an unbelievable season Sunday, beating Norwich 3-2, to win the series 7 points to 1.

Game 1 was played in Flesherton in front of a full house.  After 3 periods, the game was tied 2-2 and headed to OT.  With 43 seconds left in OT, Casey Mann scored on a breakaway, assisted by Drew Wakeham & Kody Winget, to win the first game.  Casey Mann scored the first goal from Drew Wakeham, and Clark Hammer scored from Matt Grootendorst.

The boys headed to Norwich last Tuesday, and once again headed to OT tied 2-2.  Despite controlling most of the 10 minutes of OT, the Hawks could not put one in, and the game ended 2-2, and each team earned one point to put the Hawks up 3 points to 1.  First goal went to Clark Hammer from Casey Mann and Drew Wakeham, and second goal to Casey Mann, from Drew Wakeham and Clark Hammer.  Another very strong performance in net by the Norwich goalie & the Hawks tender Aeson Uhrig.

Game 3 was last Saturday, and was played in Markdale, with a tournament taking place in Flesherton.  Game was tied 2-2 heading into the 3rd period.  2 minutes into the 3rd, the Hawks scored 2 goals in a 28 second span, and hung on for a 4-2 win.  Goals were scored by Drew Wakeham, Chase Montgomery, Casey Mann, & Jack Groves.  Assists went to Drew Wakeham (2), Casey Mann (2), Clark Hammer, Jared Rowe, & Chase Montgomery.  With the win the Hawks were up 5 points to 1, needing a win or tie to clinch the series

On Sunday the boys headed back to Norwich.  The Hawks went down 1-0, and tied it on a shorthanded breakaway by Casey Mann, assist from Kody Winget.  Norwich would go up 2-1 midway through the second, but the Hawks answered a little over a minute later on a tip in by Chase Montgomery from Kody Winget.  Once again it was tied 2-2 and as the 3rd period ticked down the game looked to heading to OT for the third time in the series.  But with 2:38 left in the 3rd, Matt Grootendorst made a great pass to Casey Mann in the slot, and he buried a one timer, to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead.  With Aeson Uhrig standing his ground in net, the Hawks held off Norwich to secure the win and the OMHA Championship, and the celebration begun.

Congratulations to Norwich on a great series, every game was great hockey, and be proud of your season!

The Flesherton Fireman met the team bus outside of Flesherton, and escorted the boys to the Arena in style, where a number of fans were waiting to greet the team.

The Hawks season ended with a record of 47 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties.  They went 20-0 in League, moved up to a A loop for playoffs and tied for first place.  They won the West Grey Tournament, won Regional Silver Stick in Wasaga, and won International Silver Stick in Forest.  And they did all with class, a great group of young men!
